You CAN Make Your Holiday Cards!

Oh, Yes! You certainly CAN make your own holiday cards this year. The key is to get started as early as possible, and keep your design simple!

Washi Tape Christmas Card - Visit http://www.mirrorimagecrafts.com for details and more projects!

Handmade Season of Style Washi Tape Christmas Card – quick and simple!

This card is just about the easiest card I’ve ever made! Stamp your sentiment, make your tree out of Washi Tape, add bling to the top and you are DONE!

The current Holiday Catalog from Stampin’ Up! has some terrific holiday stamp and accessory options for you, but the stamp set I used on this card is from the Christmas Carry-Over list. It’s called More Merry Messages, and you will only find it in my Online Store, along with a handful of other holiday sets not featured in the catalogs. Search my store for the following:

Christmas Carry-Over List for 2013-2014

  • Jewish Celebrations Stamp Set
  • More Merry Messages Stamp Set (aslo available in French)

So, choose a carry-over set, a current catalog set, or create a beautiful holiday card in My Digital Studio. No matter what direction you go, you CAN make your holiday cards! Contact me with questions!

Easy Faux Tile Technique

Technique-Faux TileSome “faux” stamping techniques required lots of complicated steps or special tools. The Faux Tile technique is a simple but stunning alternative to try on your next card or project.

SUPPLIES:

Stamps: Gently Falling (128430W, 123804CM)
Ink: Chocolate Chip Classic Ink (126979), Tangerine Tango Classic Ink (126946), Crushed Curry Classic Ink (131173)
Paper: Very Vanilla Card Stock (101650), Sweater Weather Designer Series Paper (132184)
Tools & Accessories: Simply Scored Scoring Tool (122334), Stampin’ Trimmer (126889), Craft Scissors (108360), 1-1/4” Burlap Ribbon (132140), Early Espresso Stitched Ribbon (126871), Sticky Strip (104294), Stampin’ Dimensionals (104430)

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Cut a Very Vanilla card base (5-1/2” x 8-1/2”, scored at 4-1/4”) and a Very Vanilla piece for the technique (5” x 3-3/4”)
  2. Place the Vanilla piece on the Simply Scored Tool, scoring both 5” sides at 1-5/8”. Score both 3-3/4” sides at 1-1/4”. Your piece should look like the photo shown.
  3. Choose your stamp set and very lightly stamp your design on the scored piece of card stock with the scored indentations facing upwards. Be careful to not press down too hard. You don’t want to get ink into the scored channels.
  4. Use your stamped piece as a focal piece or background on your card.
  5. My sample layers two patterns of Sweater Weather DSP behind the stamped piece, all layers adhered to each other and the card front using dimensionals. The final touch is the burlap ribbon tied with the stitched grosgrain.

Winter Frost Handmade Greeting Card

First, I have to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY to a lifelong and dear friend of mine who is celebrating today! Jennifer, may God grant you a year full of blessings! I love you!

Winter Frost Handmade Greeting Card

At the scrapbooking retreat I went to at the beginning of this month, I made lots and lots of handmade cards and other projects. Pictured above is a beautiful card that I made using the Winter Frost designer series paper in the Stampin’ Up! Holiday Catalog.

There’s a lot that I love about this card, but easily my favorite part is the Frosted Finishes embellishments! WOW! It just adds such a special touch to any project for the holidays!

I’d love to hear what you think in the comments. Also, let me know if you have any questions. Happy Crafting, my friends!
